I have mixed feelings about rhododendrons as I spent a lot of time as a conservation volunteer in England cutting them down. They take over the under story of woodlands. Due to their dense growth they stop new trees from germinating. This stops woods from being able to regenerate.

The flowers a very beautiful and a great herald of spring.
