Musical Interludes – Carmina Burana

For those who are interested, despite nerve wracking rehearsals, the concerts went very well. Friday night’s concert was especially good. There is a rather weird review in the News Journal. We wondered if he stayed for the whole performance.

This is the first time that I have sung in a concert and the soloists have all been on top of their form. For some reason or another in other concerts the soloists weren’t quite there. The baritone was amazing; apparently even better from the audience and how does the soprano* hold those notes for so long? She has the sort of soprano voice that I would like. Sigh. The tenor is a UD alumni and I’ve been lucky enough to sing in choir with him the past. His Swan Song was amazing.

It has taken me a few days to recover from a full week of rehearsal. Part of my recovery was helped by a great concert on Sunday night at the Grand (I thought of moving in) by Ladysmith Black Mamabazo.

*The News Journal gets her name wrong. Sigh. The article also called the choir the University of Delaware Symphonic Chorus, which was new to us. It is kind of cool sounding. Perhaps something our choir director thought up!

  1. Ladysmith Black Mamabazo rocks. I got hooked when I heard them on Paul Simon’s Graceland. Wish they’s play in my neck’o the woods…
